The automatic fire-fighting system is a practical and convenient solution which allows to protect electric boards and entire surroundings. It consists of a special self-tarting plastic-polymer tube that extinguishes fire at its beginning, avoiding its propagation. This fire fighting system, conceived in the middle of the 80s, has continually developed in efficiency and simplicity and it was soon approved by the most important world certification bodies, gaining a rapid spreading in the whole market. Nowadays there is a wide range of customers using this system which fits for the protection of the most different spaces and machines: stores, industrial plants, electric cabinets ,personal computer, museums, motor-vehicles, trains, and offshore bases. In the course of the years this system proved to be efficient and cheap, besides it does not require electric power (so it can operate even during energy lacking) since it only depends on mechanical and pneumatic principles. This assures an easy installation, which does not affect the appliance and the space that must be protected, and above all an easy maintenance. The simplicity of this fire fighting system makes it suitable to any situation or appliance. The tube can be located even where access is more difficult, assuring the protection of every space; in fact the whole tube becomes a sole and continuous linear sensor and fire-extinguisher, providing continual and automatic protection (24 hour a day) to the appliances and to the surrounding spaces. The simplicity of the system minimize the possibility of any malfunctioning and it assures a perfect efficiency even in case of impact, vibrations, electric shock, dirt and unfavorable atmospheric conditions.
This fire-fighting system consists of a special flexible tube and a cylinder of extinguisher (the type of extinguisher is chosen according to the product to be protected). The tube, in pressure between 12 and 18 bar, is installed where fire hazard is higher. When a flame primes it touches the tube, which melts in few seconds distributing the extinguisher and putting out the fire. This is the direct functioning system, which finds its widest employment on electric boards and plants. Besides there is also an indirect functioning system (often used for the protection of surrounding spaces and rooms). In this case the tube melting opens the valves of some cylinders (or tanks) and they diffuse the extinguisher through the discharge line with nozzles.
In the course of the years this fire fighting system has been approved and certified by the most important European bodies which all remarked its full efficiency. For example the system has been approved from: the TESI (Tecnologie Sviluppo Industriale), the certification and testing body for safety and environment authorized by the Home Office, the Prevention and Protection French National Organization, the Apragaz Belgium.
But mostly what remarks the efficacy of the product is the large number of companies that has decided to entrust their production and their people safety to this new fire fighting system.
The main advantage of this system is the possibility to efficiently and rapidly act on the point of primer, avoiding its propagation and the damages to the appliances and the surrounding environment. This system of new conception is able to rapidly operate on the source of the fire, in order to contain damages and avoid a stoppage of the plant activities.
